Dear Senior Academy Members,
These links will also be posted on the website under the past events webpage. It is exciting to recognize the work of the Membership Committee because it has meant that the navigation of the Senior Academy’s website has been very much improved, and the contents have grown in terms of scope and variety of interest. I encourage you to check out the listing of upcoming events that allows easy registration and, especially, the Member Center (tab in the upper right-hand corner on my screen) that enables to look up and connect with fellow members. Under the tab of upcoming events, you will find the Senior Academy’s next virtual event on the last day of March, 1 p.m.: Digital Handmade: How Technology Is Impacting the Future of Art by Shelley Spicuzza, coordinator of the Digital Fabrication/Imaging Lab at the Herron School of Art + Design, who will share some of the exciting art being created at the intersection of art and technology. Join us for this virtual tour of the lab and a glimpse into contemporary art making. You will also notice two recurring events, the newly formed IUPUI String Theory Group meets every second Tuesday of the month to knit or crochet and talk (the next one is April 13) and, if you just want to chat, the Social Hour is taking place every third Friday afternoon of the month (the next one scheduled for March 19). Please mark your calendars for the Annual Meeting on June 10, 2021, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. The gathering will be different from last year, when we met virtually, and also from years previous to 2020, when we met for a luncheon in a restaurant. This year, weather permitting, we will gather in Eagle Creek Park for a picnic luncheon and our speaker is Chris Lamb, professor of Journalism in the Department of Journalism and Public Relations in the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. You may have seen his February 17 article in USA TODAY, which featured a Jackie Robinson story from 75 years ago.
